Thailand Begin ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026 with 5-0 Win Over Laos

Thailand made a dominant start to their ASEAN Hyundai Cup™ 2026 campaign, defeating 10-man Laos 5-0 in their Group B opener in Vientiane on Saturday.

Teerasak Poeiphimai opened the scoring for Anthony Hudson’s side in the 11th minute before Kakana Khamyok added a second goal 16 minutes later to put Thailand in control.

Laos’ hopes of a comeback were dealt a major blow just before halftime when Phetdavanh Somsanid was sent off. Thailand took full advantage after the break, with Yotsakon Burapha, captain Sarach Yooyen and Kakana adding further goals to complete a convincing victory.

The result underlined the strength of seven-time ASEAN champions Thailand as they began their latest regional title pursuit in impressive fashion.
