Malaysia Open ASEAN Hyundai Cup Campaign with 2-1 Win

Malaysia made a winning start to their ASEAN Hyundai Cup™ 2026 Group B campaign after Paulo Josué inspired a 2-1 comeback victory over Myanmar in Yangon on Saturday.

Myanmar took an early lead through Myat Kaung Khant in the 10th minute, giving Jørn Andersen’s side a strong start. However, Malaysia responded after the break as Josué struck twice in a five-minute spell to turn the match around.

The midfielder equalized with a close-range finish in the 52nd minute before converting a penalty shortly afterwards to complete the comeback and secure all three points for Tan Cheng Hoe’s team.
