Vietnam Captain Set to Lead ASEAN Cup Title Defence

Nguyễn Quang Hải will once again play a pivotal role as Vietnam begin their defence of the ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026 title, building on a legacy that started with his outstanding performances in the 2018 championship.

The midfielder was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after inspiring Vietnam to regional glory, becoming only the second Vietnamese player to receive the honour after goalkeeper Nguyễn Hồng Sơn in 1998.
