Playing at home, Kevin Muscat’s Chinese Super League champions broke the deadlock four minutes after the interval when Prince Ampem found the net in the 49th minute.

However, the lead was short-lived. Just five minutes later, Hwang Sun-hong’s Daejeon side drew level. Diogo Oliveira met a cross from the right by Jeong Jae-hee, steering a header past the goalkeeper to equalize.

The draw moves both teams to four points in the league phase. Daejeon entered the match following an opening-victory last month against Kyoto Sanga.
