Donis Says Ronaldo and Benzema Helped Raise Saudi Standards

Saudi Arabia head coach Georgios Donis believes his players are well prepared for the challenges of the FIFA World Cup, insisting they will not be intimidated by Uruguay in their Group H opener.

Donis, who took charge of the national team in April, said competing alongside and against world-class players in the Roshn Saudi League has helped raise the standard of Saudi football. Having managed several clubs in the Kingdom over the past decade, including Al Hilal, Al Wehda, Al Fateh and Al Khaleej, the Greek coach has closely followed the league’s evolution.

While some critics argue the influx of international stars has reduced opportunities for local players, Donis maintains that exposure to elite talent has strengthened the national team and better prepared his squad for football’s biggest stage.
